I have my grandpas old 3 bottom trip plow. It is tripped and I can't figure out how to reset it. I'm no expert on plows but I've tried everything I can think of. I've tried backing up, no luck. I'm just about ready to give up. Grandpa used to pull it with his(now mine) Allis WD. Also it hooks to the drawbar not the 2 arms up above. Anybody please please please help.

pull the trip rope while moving forward, and quickly let it go (rope) this sould cycle the wheel which will elevate as they turn around

I wonder if one of those dogs is broken in the hub. What brand is it? Can you get parts? If not, maybe a welder/mechanic can repair it. Try jacking it up and just turning the wheel to get it to catch then pull it to raise it. Just some thoughts, good luck.

Does it have plenty of fresh grease? Perhaps hard grease inside. Has it been working?

I have no idea what brand it is. I found it back in the weeds along the treeline. I thought it had been gone for years, but I was wrong. Since I found it I've tried to regrease everything. Even though it sat in the weeds for a long time(grandpa died in 1972) it still plows ok for a garden but just can't get it to reset.

Usually the brand is cast in the hub i.e. IH for International, Old Abe the eagle on the globe for Case, and JD for John Deere to name the most popular. About the trip mechinism, is your trip lever returning by itself? If,not then there is a spring gone on the outside or inside the trip housing, that is mostly what goes wrong with them if the trip lever is moving freely. Good luck and if you are in the southern part of Illinois on the 21st of July next year, come see us plowing with old tractors and plows, along with binding, threshing, baling and other field activities just south of Effingham.
