I have a Freeman front end loader on my Ford 3000. The cylinder that curls the bucket is dual acting, but the cylinders that raise the bucket are single acting. I'd like to change these to dual acting, if possible. I'm not sure if the control valve can do it, but it does have some unused ports. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks!
Jim

The fix is real easy. Northeren Hydraulics sells a vented cap for the extra hole in your cylinder and all you do is drain the unused side and cap it. The "other side" of the cylinder will just suck air and the cap will keep debris out.

I'm not sure I'm following you. It sounds like you are telling me how to change from a dual acting to single acting cylinder, when I want to do the opposite, or maybe I'm misunderstanding. Please elaborate.
Thanks,
Jim

Yup, he's going the wrong way for you. :) Unless your cylinders are capped like that, you will have to throw the single-acting ones away & buy 2 long new ones. Sounds expensive to me. Check with Surplus Center. Then you need to plumb up the hoses, if you are using a double acting one now, you can probably get the current contols from here to there with little trouble.
