I just bought a 71/2 ft disk for my MF50 and the back 2 axle's don't seem to go deep enought into the ground, any suggestions, and could I remove the top link of 3 pt and just use the lift arms to pull?

Sometimes the back gangs aren't supposed to go in the ground as deep. Theory is that the front gangs will do all the real tillage and the back gangs will just smooth out what the front gangs did. The back gangs on our big field disk don't go in the ground near as far as the fronts.

use your toplink the longer you make it the lower you put the back of the disk in the ground. if you don't want to use your top link. put us on your ins.because it will come up and get you.

We have an adjustable top link for our tractor. It comes in pretty handy when you are trying to get an implement like a disk level. I have seen them at local tractor stores.

Try adjusting the angle of attack for the rear gangs. The sharper the angle, the more likely to penetrate. You may also want to add weight to the rear gangs also. I have about 250 pounds of discarded lead wheel weights (available from your tire dealer) in two 5gal buckets attached to mine with rubber tarp bungies. Have seen farmers use tractor wheel weights, cement blocks or rocks for weight. Typically, the rear gangs will not penetrate as deep as the front. DO NOT TRY TO RUN WITHOUT YOUR TOP LINK. This is a safety issue! Also you will not be able to lift and carry the disc without it. Be careful not to overweight the rear unless you like to steer with your brakes! Tractor front end weights may be in order here as well too.

You should be able to lengthen your top link. You might also have to adjust your pick-up arms. I had rather not run the disk without the top link being attached. I think that your disk would still be dragging the ground when you turned around. If you were just going around and around the field, I don't guess that it would hurt anything.

roll the top link out.if you try to run it without a link, you could wind up with it on your back.good luck
