I need to dig a trench for footings for my new garage I am building this spring. Is there an implement that will let me dig down 20" and about 12" wide. I have a front end loader on my 8N but will not be much use. Thanks for you input. Paul

Hire a backhoe and operator. The trench needs to be a specified depth (for frost) and a controlled width. Too wide and you will need more concrete. Also, the bottom must be undisturbed soil for adequate bearing (typically 3,000 psf). DOo it right...this is your home.

Did you want that trench straight and level? Better make that root beer!

Check the archives on the N Board and the Research section to the left and look for 'Trenching With A Plow'.
One bottom works well and a 2 Bottom will go deeper if you remove the front share.
Even if you have to go the last bit down with a shovel, it will save you a whack of time and labor...
