As a 13 year old filling in for dad who was in the hospital with pneumonia, I took the 1940 SC Case to the corn field with a new GI (General Implement) one row snapper to get cattle feed. I had been warned about unplugging the picker while it was running, but the darned thing plugged constantly and it took several minutes with a good sharp pocket knife to get the wrapped up grass out of the rolls, so Dad and I always took along a good lath to poke the slug through. The first and last time I ever used that lath, it took it so fast I barely could let go of it in time. Never again. Now when I tell this story (using two hands on the keyboard) no one has ever heard of General Implement?. I remember that in 1946 Dad couldn't get just any machine he wanted and he settled for this inexpensive wannabe snapper. He got rid of it soon.

I have heard of General Implement. My dad had a wagon running gear and a manure spreader of that brand.I don't remember the running gear when it was in good working shape (I am 41 now).Nor did I ever see the spreader in working order to do any spreading. But I have personally hauled much firewood, hay and other items on the old speaders frame and body over the years. He always spoke well of them said they were simple, reliable and of good quality. Also he would usually refer to the company as G-I

I would love to get ahold of one of those again, Dad had one he purchased new in 1946 and puled with a 44 Ford 2N tractor that I still have. After a couple of years he added the husking bed, I still have the owners manual, would you like a copy?
