Im building a granular fertilizer spreader, made a frame, got a spinner, driven by a hydrolic motor. I had a plastic 44 barrel but it didn't work. So im using a metal 44 barrel, pounding down the bottom and welding an old bicycle rim to the bottom. The fertilizer settles in that and gets agitated by some angled flat bar that is connected to the spinner. I don't know if my little motor will turn this set up. Im going to put two sliding gates on the bottom for the fertilizer to fall out.

Has any one built there own 3pth spreader and what did you do?? Your idea might help me out, So far ive got $50 into this project, not bad considering a second hand one is $500.00
