I just bought an old turning plow from a guy for $ 25. It has the trees for it to be pulled by two horses. As heavy as it is, I don't see how two could pull it. Anyways, when i got it how i noticed that it has a little piece of steel under the handles that locks the plow in place. It can be released and the pan and point can be turned to the other side. It looks as if it can be used to plow and turn the furrow to the left or right. Is this correct ? It has " No. 6 " wrote on it in several places. Does anyone know anything about this type of plow ? Possibly what brand it might be ?

You have a "Hillside Plow". The idea is to plow a furrow, and when you get to the end, you flip the plow before going in the opposite direction. You see, when using a regular plow, going back down the field, the plow will be throwing the dirt in the opposite direction from the first pass. With a hillside plow, you can plow a hillside, and always throw the dirt in the same direction.

The hillside plows that I have seen were made by Vulcan.
