I have "inherited" some old implements(my brother's wife say's get em' outa here). There is a massey-harris 2 furrow trailing plow on rubber,a trailing disc, make un-known,a cockshutt trailing cultivator and a new idea sickel bar mower, pto driven,on rubber.I have a cockshutt 30 with live pto and 6 acres to play on.I would like to know if any of these have any hitorical or monitary value(worth restoring) or should i just use them if i can untill my wife rebells then use them as a bargaining chip so as to keep the tractor.

I would keep them. My wife accuses me of being a pack rat. As far as worth goes the implements are bringing more all the time. In 1989 I bought an Oliver 70 at a sale but watched the Oliver single shank subsoiler sell for $25. A few years later Dad had to give $125 for one. About 2 years ago I heard of one selling close by for over $300. The day of the $50 farm sale plow ready to use is gone--at least around here. I wanted a 2 bottom mechanical lift plow. Had to give $90 for 2 (take 2 to make 1) IH Little Genius 2-14" plows and still didn't have a useable tire between the 2 of them. This was about 3 years ago.

have to agree that most aren't collectables now but the time will come when all the fencerows and such are cleaned out and folks will wish they had some of the older smaller implements, i'd keep them and use and enjoy them.my 2 pennies kj

Al,it looks to me as though you've got a whole lot of fun there. Don't get rid of any of it! Take your time and get every piece in good shape. A little paint will usually make wives happy, but it's up to you. You can't put a price on self satisfaction of having everything working. And if she gives you any trouble, have different people in her presence say,"I wish I had that",or "that stuff is hard to come by." I love to get old equipment back in working shape,it's good therapy, and a great way to have fun. I wish you would post some pictures of before and after! We would all like to see them,or at least let us know how you're doing with them. Barney

So far implements are not collectable, like old tractors. However, 20 years from now folks might want something to pull behind their collectable tractor...

Anyhow, the NI mower is worth something if in servicable condition. The rest are a good starter set of implements for a small plot of land, I'd sure keep the stuff & play with it! All you need is a planter/seeder of some sort.

The Cockshutt trailing cultivator sounds rare to me,so hold on to it. The MH plow is not as common, but not really rare or collectable.

They're all useful, but I doubt any of 'em have any historical or collectible significance.

Drawbar ("trailing") implements are getting harder and harder to find, as all the new stuff is 3-point.

I'd hold on to 'em.

I used a New Idea trailing mower for years when I was a kid , always did a good job . The rest of the implements sound like a good start for a big sweet corn patch .
