Yall remember the farmer from Pennsylvania who lost both of his hands in a corn puller accident? Duane, one of his neighbors, reported the horrible accident on this board. I got a letter yesterday from Mr. Weston. I am going to type it for the board to read. I know that many of you offered up prayers for his benefit.Dear Friends, THANK YOU, How do I ever say thank you to all who have been so generous? I can’t find the words to tell you what your support has meant to me. So few of us ever get to leave this world without knowing if there are people who really, truly care about us. I have had the privilege knowing that I am not in this world alone and there are so many good people who truly have shown that they do care about me. All I can say is Thank you, seems so little. From the bottom of my heart my family and I truly Thank You for your generous gifts and your support since my farming accident.
Having the knowledge that so many of you have expressed concern and said a prayer for me is making the recovery more easy. I am still a little way from regaining all of the same abilities that I had before the accident but I have great faith that I will have a hook for each of my arms and will be able to do nearly all that I did before the accident. I am still taking medication to prevent any more blood clots. Attend therapy and awaiting the decision whether they must reset a broken bone in my lower arm. My spirits are high but I am anxious to have my new hands so that I may again be able to do the simple things like bathing, combing my hair, zipping my pants, putting a pot on the stove and driving the “old truck” so I can go visit a friend. Oh yes, I will be glad to do all those simple things and the more difficult, too. They tell me not until June, 2001 will I have my new hands. In the meantime, my family and friends continue to do the farm work and for them I am so thankful. I anxiously await the time when I can return to farm work and hope I have the patience to endure the wait. Thank you for your continued good wishes, prayers and support. Forever grateful to all of you! Sincerely, Grant Weston
Folks, this is Steve from Tn again. Mr. Weston had signed his letter at the appropriate place. It looked as if it was his signature, very shaky and carefully done. This letter was sent obviously from the heart. We need to remember Mr. Weston in our thoughts and prayers. He sounds like a true fighter with great neighbors. Thanks for taking the time to read this letter from Mr. Grant Weston. I tried to reproduce it as he had sent it to me. I always make mistakes and apologize to Grant if I have changed the meaning of his letter. It was unintentional.
