Does anyone know where I can find a picture on the web of a 3 pt buzzsaw.I remember my great uncle and my dad using one when I was little. And the story my dad always told me before they started cutting slabs into fire wood in the fall. When he was younger he was helping a man one day with cutting wood with a buzzsaw. He was handing the slabs to the man. My dad said he had just bent over to pick up another slab of wood to hand to the man. When he got a glace of the man tripping over a piece of wood.He said it was in slow motion that he did'nt have time to react. That the man fall right into the blade right above his waist.Does anyone know which 3pt tractor attachment is the most dangerous? Thanks Smith

While this is not 3pth buzz saw it is tractor powered. As you can, risky business at best.

Just about any machine can be dangerous when they're not respected for what they are - and it doesn't matter where they are attached. The dangers of a buzz saw has to rank right around that of an unshielded PTO shaft.

3pt implements are not dangerous it's when you put them around people that body parts start aflyin. l've use a buzzsaw for 30 of 40yrs not even a close one, take your time stand offset of the blade no problem, now chainsaws thats another story, bent over right in front of the blade scary

They were called slab saws in this area. people would use them to cut up the slabs (first cutting of lumber at a sawmill that had bark on it) for firewood. i don't have picture sorry. the interia (sp) of the blade along with its aggressive tooth shape and speed ment it took what ever you gave it. fingers, arms, body. i remember my father using one along with sharecroper help. we were not allowed to be in sight (broke the concentration of the workers) and the workers were not allowed rapid movements. the tractor was set at a fast idle, but it wouldnot have mattered they were killers at any speed. later ones had a guard that gave some protection if you fell directly on the blade. it was darwinn's theory proved with the old ag equipment, the stupid, weak, the unlucky died or got injured. i wanted one for shows until i remembered how bad they really were.
