My dad gave me the old horse drawn hayrake he used growing up in the 30's and 40's. He can't remember what kind it was and I have been wanting to restore it. In addition to not remembering what kind it is, he also isn't sure about what color, but thinks maybe it was green/yellow (JD maybe?) but said it seems like maybe it was red also...any suggestions?

Have you tried looking it over for a company name or logo stamped somewhere in the metal. I have an old IH rake that took a lot of looking before I could find IH stamped somewhere. I also have an old New Idea that still has the serial tag number and it says New Idea on it. You'll need to know the manufacturer if you have to buy tines.

I have looked all over for a name or some type of markings to identify it. It is completely covered in rust and I may have to sand blast it lightly to find any kind of markings. Will post a picture of it as quick as I am able.
