I have an old 150-bushel gravity-wagon and I need to get some gravel to extend my driveway. I was wondering if I could have the guy with the Front-End loader dump it full of gravel? And then open the chute and drive slowly and put it where it is needed. I hope to save labor and time by doing my gravel this way. The place where I get my gravel is about 4-miles away.

I worked for a guy one time that loaded crushed stone into his PTO driven JD manure spreader and spread it very nicely down his driveway. Gravity wagon should work but I wouldn't expect it to hold much before it gets too heavy.

go for it, just don't go over the weight limits. infact just get small loads, and take it slow. It should work like a charm, make sure the axles are greased good, you don't want to damage the hubs, because they weren't lubed up. Good luck

Unless you have very heavy duty gear under this gravity box,I would say NO.Gravel/rock is VERY heavy compared to grain.Don't have the numbers handy, but gravel/rock is something like 6-8 times weight of grain.Might be better off using manure spreader(half load) or such made to carry heavier weight loads...-just my thoughts-

I have done this, Yes the gravel will slide out,
along with any paint or slip plate you had in the
wagon, don't go over what the wagon is rated at.
Don't go by looks, If youv'e never loaded it before, be carefull cause it is heavier than you
think. fwiw, dave.
