A friend of my dad's is will ing to give us a rotary cutter for our Farmall Super C. All I know is that it is a Covington heavy duty and is missing the tail wheel. I can't find any info on the internet aboutthis mower. My main concerns are the hitch and the power of my tractor. When I get my 3 pt. hitch conversion, I think that it will be cat 1 (26") what hitch would this heavy duty mower have? Will a 25 hp farmall power a heavy duty mower (5 ft. wide) as long as I don't get crazy with it? Thanks for your help! -- Martin

Steve,
I have ben running a 5' brush-hog knockoff with a Farmall 200 (successor to a Super C), using a 2pt to 3pt conversion. The engine has enough power to run the unit, and I think it would handle a 6' unit as well. Hydraulic lift is fully capable. Am hogging off hayfields and light brush. Downside is that the front is a little light, but managable, (wide front-no weights) and without live power, you need to think what you're doing with the clutch - don't start under load, and plan your stops well ahead, 'cause the mower will drive the tractor until it unwinds. An over-running clutch is highly recommended.

Hey Martin, I think that the power is there. Make sure that the cutter doesn't make the front end of your tractor too light. You might have to add front weight. You need a tail wheel. This should be an easy project for a welding shop if yall don't weld. If you can find a junk cutter, the tail wheel can be attached to your cutter with very few modifications. Good luck and be careful.
