It's heresy! Chevy man buying an old Ford!

At last Friday's auction I bought an old 2 bottom turn plow for $25.00 It is a Model 10-1, s/ 49136.
I assume made in '49 based on s/n?

Anyone have a lead on finding parts? I bought this plow and it is in need of 2 coulters, 2 coulter swivel brackets, 1 moldboard & 2 shins.

I have been to the FL version of CT Farm and they only want to sell me new Howse plows. I seen in the classified Bob P. is looking for much the same. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Shep,
Call Alvin Martin at Wengers of Myerstown. He's got all kinds of coulters with different shaft sizes. Don't know what size shaft your brackets are but mine is an 1-1/4" (model 10-152 economy).
I haven't ordered any yet but intentend to do so pretty soon. To damn much snow to think about plowin' now. Good luck.

Tim -
Thanks! I will check out the link later. Should be doing my taxes right now. As to your questions I don't know!! Everything I own rolls (disk) or digs (backhoe).

Where do I measure from to determine if 12 or 14"?
As to shares (shins?) I suspect they are disposable as they bolt on.

Measure the distance between the beams, center to center; it should be 12" or 14". The 12in. "throwaway" shares are held on by 2-bolts and are basically a rectangular blade with a squared off nose; they are available from various aftermarket sources reasonable price. If you can't find the 12", the 14" will still work on a 12" frame. The non-throwaway points(which I am not too familiar with) are much heavier and turned down at the point and I beleive hard to find and expensive. If this is what you have I would forget about it. If you are fixing it up to use, try it without the coulters, it may work ok if you run the disk over the ground first. For me, the coulters on a light Ford plow were always a pain, we would try to plow under manure that had a lot of straw in it and the coulters would just ride along on top of the straw.
