first i would like to thank you guys for helping me out.it is a 290 ?, but it has steel wheels, not rubber, steel cover wheels, and i found a 490 that i purchased for 50$ and it had 4 perfect seed containers, and inside had 32 planter plates, half steel and half plastic, that match my others, what i can't find is the year it was made and a manual on it, or model, can i plant sun flowers with this planter also. thanks for your time

I agree with Leroy that its probably a model 999 planter. I have an owners manualfor a 999 and any 290s I have seen are on rubber.

If I understand you correctly it is probably not a 290, The 290 is a tractor planter with carring wheels a very few were made with steel wheels most were on rubber, if it only has the steel press wheels then it is not a 290 but a horse planter model 999 most likely

I stand corrected, the 999 and the 290 are the same planter, except for the wheels, one has rubber, one has steel.
