Does anyone know anything about the style of plow called a bottle cap plow. The bottle cap name comes from the way the trip axle come in from the outside in. I have no idea what brands made these type plows. The plow I have is very old and has no markings to identify it, any body know? It is a two bottom w/ 12" bottoms and on steel.

Mark, The term is actually a plow with a "bottle cap" wheel. There were a few different John Deere plow models made using the solid disc land wheel with a fluted edge to give traction for raising the plow. The wheel actually resembles a giant cap for a pop/beer bottle. Later the wheel was made smooth and had lugs that were bolted on. You can find the bottle cap wheel on some of the early number 5C and 6C plows and some grub breaker plows. The number that comes to mind is 17904 for that particular wheel. Most John Deere plows have John Deere stamped into the beams, and there are usually casting numbers on many of the individual parts. I don't know if other manufacturers copied, I mean, also used this arrangement. Hope this helps. Bob
