This forum is great! Thanks to everyone that has posted the "answers." I have learned a ton. Lots of great info. I am clearing 20 acres of sandy loam, no rocks, in southern Utah. I just found several Ferguson plows. They are in excellent shape. The moldboards show almost no wear and have 14A0112 stamped on them. The field has been brush hogged and disced. I plan to plow it and then disc it again. Is this a general purpose plow or was it designed for some specific use. Can a Ford 4000 Industrial pull it in the sand? The asking price for the plow is $ 350.00...too much?

Sandy soils? You can pull a 4-bottom easy with a 4000 so you can pull a 2-bottom a gear or two faster than you would a 4-btm. $350 is way too much I gave $100 for a JD 2-btm. recently that is in very good condition except for a little paint and it doesn't have any wear. Watch out, the Shares and other parts are VERY had to find and expensive. I don't think Dearborn(FORD) of MF parts fit so, I guess since they are all in good condition use one and keep the others "for parts" when a share gets worn down. I wouldn't go over $200 each. Many more Dearborn(then Ford) and Massey-Ferguson plows were made than just Harry Ferguson. As far as I know Massey-Harris bought or Merged with Harry-Ferguson in 58' so that ended the production of his plows like yours by that time. Good Luck.
