I plan to use a bush hog type mower for hay this year. Everyone seems to say it would work well and "condition" the hay the poor man's way. Would this work best with left side of mower housing removed or raised? Anyone tell me name of mowers that have removable sides? I hate to take a torch to my IH mower if I can buy a fairly inexpensive one with side already off, and use it for the hay. Thanks.

Hubb, a friend has a 7 foot BushHog that has a removable left side. It is a heavy duty cutter. I don't know if any of the other brands offer this option.

I just ordered a KingKutter this morning. It's a 6ft with a 60hp gearbox with a removeable left side for cutting hay. It's called a hayside mower. Price wouldn't have been so bad except for the freight from Alabama to Kansas. Total was $950. These are pretty good units from what I have been told. Weigh 800lbs.

My cousin has a Woods Cadet 60 that has a removable left side. Beware of rocks!
