I currently have a sickle bar on my AC, I have never used it. My grand dad used it the last time back in the 60's. Where would I start looking for a belly mower for this tractor.I'm not a farmer , I just restored this tractor and need to cut down weeds one time a year around the edges of the field. This sickle bar may be all I need??? It runs good but don't know how it cuts yet? Any advise would be helpfull. Thanks Fred

If you plan on mowing your lawn with the C it's hard to beat the #59 Woods. If your just going to mow around the fields once a year, you would probably be better off with the sickle bar. Unlike a rotary mower which will beat the grass down with dull blades, the sickle bar must be sharp in order to work properly. Pull the knife and either sharpen, or replace the sections. In each gaurd there is a ledger plate riveted to the bottom of the slot that knife goes through. If the edge of the ledger plates are rounded bad, they should be replaced. If you have a 4" grinder you can square them up by grinding the sides instead of replacing them. If that mower has been sitting out all those years the pitman arm is probably rotten also. Last I knew, the sections, ledger plates, rivets, and pitman arm could be ordered at Tractor Supply Co. But that was a few years ago.

Woods mfg. makes belly mowers with belt drive. They're one of the few who make them compatible for your tractor and they make a good product.
