I am in possession of a ground driven manure spreader which i want to restore for use. This has a steel frame and a wood box. It appears that the box and wkeels were red and there was green paint on the hubs and drive gears. The drive sprocket has"coldwater ohio" embosed on it but i was unable to find any other ID any where on the spreader. Any info on mfg.,parts availability ect. would be appreciated

It is definately new idea. If it is 4 wheel it is horse drawn and is probably either a #8 or #10. @ wheel is tractor drawn. If the box is all wood it is probably either a 12 or a 14(smaller). If it has a metal front and top rails it is possibly a 206. These are the most common models around here(s.e. PA) and parts are readily available.

Coldwater, Ohio means it's a New Idea, along with the green and red (orange) paint. However, New Idea made quite a large variety of ground drive spreaders with steel frames and wood boxes over the years. I'm not sure how to pin down the model number, but somebody else here might have a clue.
