I have an Earthmaster and a disk plow that has two gangs (36inch) of six disks. Both gangs attach to a single bar. Disks are 18inch. One of the disks is broken. Any info on where I can get a replacement disk? The disk gang is held together by a long center bolt. Appears to be about 3/4" with a large square head on one side. Pretty rusted and I may have to cut it off with a grinder. Are these old bolts still made or will I need to fabricate. thanks

Terry, I have an Earthmaster that I'm getting ready to paint and fully restore. It's the only one I've seen for real (seen a few pictures) and is in really good condition. Rebuilding the engine also. Do you have any pictures of your's that you could e-mail me? I'm missing the battery cover and the air-pipe from the air-cleaner to the carb. and will probably have to fabricate my own. I'm located in north Alabama, near Huntsville. Thanks

I sometimes have difficulty figuring out if we are talking about a disk, a harrow, or a plow that uses huge disk blades, but it sounds like you have a small regular old disk.

In this case, Shoup manufaturing is the place to get parts. They offer many blades, and many types of center shafts. If they don't have it, it will be tough to track down a company that does.

Please don't cut the shaft if it is good. Use your torch & heat up that big nut. Ret hot if you need to. Get some big pipe wrenches. On a nut that size, it's pretty easy to get them off with a little heat. You will be surprised. I've done several. You can also use the torch to cut the nut off & not hurt the shaft. It's pretty easy to do that too. Don't waste the shaft if you don't have to.

Paul,

Thanks for your note. I have a small regular old scalloped disk. Do you have an address or number for Shoup manufacturing?

I will do as you suggested concerning the shaft. I guess I get a little impatient some times but your suggestion wouls surely save time and money overall.

Thanks

I am planning to replace some of mine also. I have scallopped disks and considering replacing with solid disks. Reason being, when using a disk plow recently the solid disks really seemed to cut better and with more metal hopefully they will last longer.

What are your plans?

Terry, take all the info you have and the measurements to your local John Deere dealer or to a farm supply such as Tractor Supply or Quality Farm & Fleet, they have parts for lots of stuff and many discs used the same or close to the same size discs. Likely there is a shaft that will work available too. Good luck. Bob
