I am thinking about buying a complete, ready to weld backhoe kit. It is Model 608 from Metkit and will be attached to my Ford 4000 Industrial. I really don't need a commercial size backhoe, but do need to dig the ocassional trench. Welding no problem! Has anyone seen this kit assembled and working. Any opinions appreciated. Thanks

I am really intersted in hearing how all of these projects turned out. I am interested in building one of these for a Yanmar 1510D.

thanks :)

I am just about finished with an 808 right now. It will sit on the back of my 8N Ford. I bought the plans, not the kit. I got about $400 into metal and about less than $400 into hydraulics. I think it is going to work great!

I would highly recommend the plans!

Micheal

Thanks for the replies guys. I am shopping for a friend who is mechanically adept, computer inept. these units look a little small, but I'm going to pass it on. Thanks again. Doc

The plans are available at Cadplans as billyz mentioned. Their site is linked to Metkit right on their page. Metkit has an arrangement with Cadplan to sell only cut out or semi finished units. If you purchase parts or a kit from Metkit, you still have to purhcase the plans from Cadplan. The Model 608, 3 point hitch mount, is only one of several versions they offer. I figure the completed price should be under $ 2000.00....compared to some $ 5000.00 for a similar unit from catalog or the local implement house. I am going to buy the Model 608 just as soon as I finish rebuilding the engine in my 640 Ford. If a guy or a buddy can weld and run a crescent wrench, the kit should be a winner for the guy that does an ocassional dig. If you want to check my progress...just email me and I will let you know how it works out!
