A couple of years ago I was at an implement dealer that sold Bush Hog equipment. I noticed a bat-wing version with one wing up in the vertical position, and what I saw caught my attention. There were four knives under the deck. Well, OK, I thought--twice the cuts that a regular two-knived machine can offer. When I manually pushed on one of the knives the other pair moved in the opposite direction--contra-rotation! Well isn't that slicker than snot on a pump handle! I'll bet the gearbox arrangement is a beaut! Does anyone have any experience with these and how well do they cut? I think the model I was looking at was a CR15. Impressions are that it would take some fairly hefty iron to run this thing. Thanks!

They are 3 bladed finish mowers, and are made in 3 point style along with bat wing versions. They have one inner spindle running through the center of the outer spindle for the counter rotation. They really chew the grass up, and do take more HP to run. In tall grass you have to go fairly slow. Robert
