I haven't tried anything yet, thought someone might have a suggestion for me. The last two discs on the right rear gang are always pushing dirt while disking! I know it doesn't really hurt anything, but it is leaving a sizeable "furrow" behind me as I am going on. Eventually, the clog will work it's way out, but it is still quite an annoyance. My ground is mostly sandy loam type, and I have no other clogging problems on the disc, not even on the other side. Any help is appreciated.

I don't know about the Deere disc but I have had the same problem with my Red Clay earth (I hesitate to call it soil sometimes). I got some old rototiller tines from a Troybilt that had been replaced and welded them to act as scapers thus stopping the build up before it happened. Made all the difference in the world. Deere may make scrapers for that disc so before you rig it you might call your local dealer and see.

Despite the color wars, Deere must be doing something right to have continued on strong for all these years in a market where others have folded or consolodated.

However, I've alway heard on these internet forums that Deere disks just plain suck.

I hope I can say that, as I have an old AW that cuts a few cornstalks for me when I use it, and with my colorful assortment of machinery, I'm not into color wars. :)

Gotta agree with you there. JD sure didn't build its reputation on discs. I can't think of anyone that likes theirs, in terms of the newer ones used for large farming. Our old 220 is worthless at making a seedbed, only reason we still have it is because 30-50 acres a year sure doesn't pay for a CIH 496 very well.

I too am not into color wars, I just like for the stuff that I do have to work properly. I have heard that this type disc is also a little on the light side - it pulls pretty doggone smooth though, except for that last dang disc!
