: : : Howdy all, : : I'm normally an "N" runner myself, but have recently come into possession of a JD 2 row plow and a JD seeder. : : The neglected things were partially buried when I found them at a building constrction site and had to be yanked out of the overbearing briars and saplings. If I remember correctly, the overgrown field where they were located hadn't been cultivated in over 20 years. The poor things were obviously forgotten when the tenants moved or died. : : Well anyway, enought of a tear jerker, I intend on bringing them back to their former glory but need to take the first step. How do I tell what models I've got? There are only what I take to be casting numbers on several sections. : : If it helps, the plow is on spoked wheels (w. tires) and has a lever on the left wheel hub (for what I don't know). : : Anything would help. : : Thanx. : The lever on the hub is to raise and lower the plow on ends. You tie a rope on the seat and run to the lever. Maybe I can help you I.D. the plow. Check the tops of the plow's plow beams. There will be numbers stamped on each one. The JD model 52 will have 611 or 613 on the left one and 610 or 612 on the right one.Jd sold a lot of these. The were available on steel or rubber. If it has the numbers 623 and 583 on the beams than it is a model 4. The model 4 was a sort of heavy duty model 52. The 4 was also available on steel or rubber. If none of these numbers match, look at the beams. If each is two pieces held together with bolted gussets and by that I mean that horizontal part and the more vertical part that attaches to the plow bottom is bolted together. Both the 52 and 4 have one piece beams. The bolted plow is probably a model 44. I hope I have'nt confused you too much.
