Anyone familar with finish mowers?
Considering a 6-7 foot one for a 300 FARMALL.
Any ideas on rear discharge versus side discharge?
King Kutter seems to have least expensive yet one of the more durable. Any suggestions as to why Woods and John Deere are twice as expensive other than the name?
Need to reach decision and make purchase soon grass is getting high...

I am in the same situation as you. I have looked at the KK and they are well built. One opinion I got was "they're built like a tank" I wish they had a rear discharge model, but they don't--I contacted them!! Some people I know have problems with side discharge mowers "piling the grass" to the side. Caroni, sold by Agri-Supply in N.C. makes a rear discharge model but the 6' model I'm interested in does not have a "floating hitch" like the KK. Land Pride was too rich for my blood as was Woods. The LP ran about $1600 and the Woods $2200!!! I can get the KK here in Alabama for $950 (they are made here). I may take a serious look at altering the KK to a rear discharge????? ???? Any thoughts??

Bob:
Thanks for the info.I guess we will see how good the KK is. I went ahead and bought one today-6 footer $1,095 tax included. My dog is getting lost in the high grass and wife said I'd better cut it or bale it.
I really wanted the rear discharge too but $$$ got in the way.
If you figure out how to convert to a rear discharge on the KK let me know.
I have looked at it and might take the baffle off the left hand side. That may allow some cross drafting and spread the grass better especially when it is wet. In either case I am working to get it ready to try tomorrow. Stay in touch and keep me up to date.

It works fine.
Sorry for the long delay in responding, have been busy as a one armed paper hanger.
The 300 runs it just smooth as silk. I would have liked the rear discharge type but the price was too high.
