The rubber rolls. Price them, they cost more each than the used bine cost you....

The wobble box. Spendy parts in there, & it does all the work.

Get a model with the rolls going the full width of the cut. JD & Hesson & others tried a few models where the hay is augered or bunched together & fed through narrow rolls. Clogs & bunches a lot worse.

NH is good, JD is good, most are good if you look for the above.

I think NH copyrighted Haybine.

Check the bearings on the conditioning rolls. A seized bearing will spin on the shaft. We did save a roll by finding an engine lathe and having a sleeve made for the shaft.

Our pull 469 out cut a self propelled Hesston.

I like my New Holland 467 (7ft) I think the big thing to look for is if the rubber on the rolls is good.

I happen to have a 467 haybine, however I need some parts for it. I need a gear box and the rear pulley that is on the left side. I was trying to find a used implement place to get it. If you would happen to have extra parts or if you would know where I could find some parts for a 467 I would appreciate it.

Thank you

I would recommend a New Holland haybine, there may be other brands that are OK, but New Holland is #1 in haybines. Parts are easiest to get and they have a good reputation for durability. Make sure you get a good one, as with anything nowadays repairs can cost you $$$$.
Just my two cents worth.

I just bought a NH 478 this spring. I went through it top to bottom and I didn't find much wrong with it beside three blade guards. I have cut 20 acres of alfalfa so far this year, and it works well. What to look for? everyone told me to really check out the wobble box. It's the most expensive item to fix. I think the bottom line is how the current owner has cared for his equipment. That's my two cents worth, happy with New Holland
