I have an IH 16 sicklebar mower. I can't figure out how to adjust the cutterbar lead. The bar is lagging several inches. The mower is attached to the back of the Super A if that makes a difference.

The book for the A-24 mower says "The outer end of the cutter bar shoiuld be ahead of the inner end to off-set the backward strain produced by the pressure of cutting. This permits the knife and pitman to run in a straight line. As the mower parts wear, the cutter bar begins to lag back until the knife is running at an angle. This results in excessive wear and breakage of cutter parts. an occasional check should be made for the correct lead. The outer end of the bar shoulld be ahead of the inner 1-5/8" on the 7-ft. bar, 1-38" to 1-5/8" on the 6-ft. bar, and 1-1/8 to 1-38" on the 5-ft bar.
To check the lead, strech a line across the rear face of the tractor wheels, parallel to the tractor rear axle, and measure from the line to the back of the knife at the inner and outer ends of the bar. The difference between the two measurements is the lead of the bar.
To correct the lead of the cutter bar, loosen the lock nut securing eyebolt "G" and turn the eyebolt until the proper lead is obtained."
(Eyebolt "G" is in the forward inner point of the large casting that the cutter bar fastens to and hooks to the breakaway link).

Have fun!
