I picked up last night (after an arduous drive through twisty mountin roads in the dark), an nice old Ferguson rear scoop- darn, I don't recall the model- SO-30 or something like that. The tag is on it.It is solid, but it is completely covered in rust. I bought it to be used, but I figure I'll try to paint it and keep it from rusting further, and besides it is a nice old piece, with the original tag. I'm guessing it is from the 40's. Here were my thoughts. I figured I'd clean it real well (it is pretty clean now), and spray rustoleum rusty-surface primer. This is designed for, and in fact requires a rusty surface in order to work. They spray Massey-Ferguson red (which I can get from Tractor Supply. Would this be the right color for this? Were the old implements the same color red as the new MF tractors? (that seems unlikely)... When I get a chance I'll post a photo.
