I picked up last night (after an arduous drive through twisty mountin roads in the dark), an nice old Ferguson rear scoop- darn, I don't recall the model- SO-30 or something like that. The tag is on it.

It is solid, but it is completely covered in rust. I bought it to be used, but I figure I'll try to paint it and keep it from rusting further, and besides it is a nice old piece, with the original tag. I'm guessing it is from the 40's.

Here were my thoughts. I figured I'd clean it real well (it is pretty clean now), and spray rustoleum rusty-surface primer. This is designed for, and in fact requires a rusty surface in order to work.

They spray Massey-Ferguson red (which I can get from Tractor Supply. Would this be the right color for this? Were the old implements the same color red as the new MF tractors? (that seems unlikely)...

When I get a chance I'll post a photo.

I have one of those that my grandfather bought new in the late 40's or early 50's. It's still got some paint on it, and it is Ferguson (not MF) Gray, which should also be available in spray cans from TSC.
