I know that loaders were made for and frequently used on 8n series tractors but the question is, "do these wagner and dearborn loaders ultimately overstress the machine?" I've heard that they are hard on the front spindles.

thanks

steve

I have what I believe to be a Wagner Loader (I wish someone knew where the manufacturer hid the serial numbers or ID so I could be certain of the loader model??) on my 1950 (8N). I replaced the front tires, repacked the wheel bearings and inspected the spindles when I first aquired her. It has been problem free for the last 5 years with medium usage. I spread lots of wood chips from landscapers year round, and haul about 10 cord anually of wood into the house during the winter with a 6ft.bucket. I use my 1 yd bucket for heavier landscaping on the property. That includes grading/building our 1000ft driveway, building stonewalls, and spreading 400 yds of loam for our lawn. That 8N has become a very cherished member of the family to say the least.

The only problem I have had comes from a worn axle pin which I will replace soon. The front mounted distributor's cap keeps loosing the number 2 snout due to the axle turning up more than it should. I am currently in the process of upgrading the tractor to power steering from Jackson PS Company and that's when i'll replace the pin. It steers hard from a stop, with a full bucket. I should really be thankful for the workouts and the fact that it keeps the wife from wanting to drive it.

Bottom line, if you do the preventative maintenance first, you should remain trouble free.

One other tip for counter weight I have a large concrete block on the 3pt.and my 11.2-28's are full of RV antifreeze solution. It has also helped to run double ring logging chains year round for traction.

As long as you don't need it to move mountains quickly or behave like a 988 loader, you'll be glad you got one!!
