Hi, I have a 4 ft Mono bush hog. I got the main nut off of the main shaft, with a pipe wrench and a 7 ft cheater and a bumper jack. I thought I was a lucky genius. but NO! What now? Does the blade bar just pop off of the shaft? I tried using a gear puller but since it has three grips, I got scared that it would spring loose, or I would foul the thread on the shaft. Any ideas how to get this thing the rest of the way off? The blade bar doesn't thread onto the shaft, does it? Any help will be most appreciated. Thanks, Chuck

I had a similar problem with my brush hog; in my case, the disc that the blades attached to was too big to get a puller on. I drilled and tapped the hub, then pulled it off with a harmonic balancer puller.

My shaft is tapered, so once I got enough pressure on it, the hub just popped off. The biggest problem was drilling the hub; it's pretty tough stuff.

Thanks, Thought I was just getting weak. Finally decided to get a metal grinding wheel bit for my electric drill and sharpened the blade as good as I could with what patience I had left. Glad I didn't get it perfect because I started mowing and promptly hit a big rock!

Take the nut off and look for that rock again, that should loosen it up!! (just kidding).
