I am trying to do an 'emergency' resurrection of 1 of the 2 old side delivery rakes here. Have about a week to do it in...

I think both can be made functional with some work and would like to concentrate my efforts on the best one. Info on vintage and any comments would be helpful... including 'go find another rake'...

Rake #1 New Idea (??) = possible obscured mark
45?? R-50??
57536
4 wheel rake. 2 tires shot, 1 rim rusted out..
1 bent ajustment bar.. otherwise doesn't look too bad (I think)

Rake #2 John Deere
LR24 8080

'2 Wheel' rake. looks like it didn't get much use.
not much wear but lotsa rust on adjustment jackscrews..

I think #1 was my Uncle's favorite.. (had ranch before me)

40 acres hay down and it's raining.

Me, I'd hook the 300 with fasthitch or 960 with 3-point drawbar & use the JD rake, don't need to fool with the rusty bits then, just move the hitch on the tractor up & down. :)

I'd think working some penetrating oil in would get that rake running first. Around 'here' I'd wait to find an auction which had another NI rake on it, can buy those for $5 or so, then have all the spare parts you need.

Thanks for the feedback.. i'd have to jury rig an adapter for my MF 3 point to carry a drawbar so I could control the raking height. But, that can be done. I'll take another look at it this afternoon.

If it rains 3 or 4 more days like it is today and it may be an exercise in futility.
