How much would a good used brush hog cost for a Ford 9N?

Thanks in advance.

Fat Pat

You might check a place in tulsa, ok, that sells them wholesale. they list a 5' Tuffy for $365, and a Howse for $385. Don't know what shipping would be.

A five foot cutter is about right. Don't forget the over-running clutch for the PTO shaft (as per Dell) and a shaft cover for the U-joints. I use stabilizer bars on my lower arms too to minimizing swaying. And don't use a chain for the top link. This will defeat the 3-point safety design of the hitch.

Pat:

I've got an 8N with a 5' bushog. The N will pull a 5' bushhog over any terrain you'd feel safe driving over, though I've heard some folks pull a 6'...I think that's probably too much weight.

So any brand is ok as far as 'fit' goes. There's been lots of discussion about which to buy, and I don't have enough expertise to comment on that, except buy the best you can afford. I've seen well-used hogs go for as little as about $200, and they go up from there. My own cost me about $350 as I recall...I've put a lot of time repairing, welding, painting etc, so I'm not sure that was a bargain (on the other hand, I *do* treat it pretty rough!).

good luck,
Tom
