I would like to purchase a ford or dearborn 2/12 bottom plow. Does anyone know of one for sale, or a company that sells this type of used equipment. Are moldboards and shares readily availble still for this type of plow? Thanks for the help!

Finding a 2-12 will be difficult as Tom said the 14's and 16's are alot more common. To get a double 12 keep your eyes open for a 3-12 because they werer sold as better plows for sod than 2-16's. Then you would have a spare point and moldboard.

There is a farm supply near me in western pa that has about 10 of them in his lot. Both fergusons and dearborns. The hardest plows to get the parts for is the 12 in plows. the shares are expensive when found and the moldboards are usually the wrong one no matter what the catalog says. The 14 and 16 in plows the parts are readily available.
Good luck

This is a manufacturer of obsolete plow wear parts:

Crescent Forge & Shovel
405 W. Tinkham
Havana, IL 62644
309/543-3348

I have purchased some of their stuff, like 12" Oliver moldboards etc. thru dealers in PA. If you can't get the 12" Dearborn parts you can install Oliver frogs/bottoms on the Ford beams by just drilling another hole. Oliver made a moldboard #NC219-12 which I believe is still being using by farmers plowing with mules/horses.

In any event, if you buy a Dearborn/Ford or Ferguson, I would make sure it has the blade type "throw-away" shares, and not the long forged shares which will be hard to find and expensive.

Thanks for the info guys. Tom I'll email you for the location of the plows in PA. I'm in Maryland so it shouldn't be to far of a drive to look at them. Thanks! Keith
