Help the drive shaft for an old bush Hog I have broke yesterday. The round tube, that the square rod goes into, broke. I can't find a manufacture name or number on the hog, but I think it was an Old Massey Furgunson. The square shaft on the old one looks to be 1 1/4" square. The question is, are these a standard size. Which dealer should I go to to try to match one up? I need to get the field mowed for the church picnic on Sunday. Thanks for any help, Ron G.

Someone will surely correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe they are standard sized. I need one for a used brush hog I bought and I'm going to try to find a salvaged one because they are close to $100 around here for the whole shaft new. Better take the old one with you when you go to get your new one just to make sure its right.

Sometimes the shafts are not square, but rectangular so that timing of the universal joints is automatic. Take the whole shaft to the biggest equipment dealer in your area. Small dealers usually have parts for only that which they sell.
