YOU, can one of these tools at the Quality FARM& COUNTY STORE ,part #18600-136 its called a LINK CHAIN BRAKER. THEY also have the roller chain braker that will do up to #100 roller chain these come in several modles.

I usually just loosten the chain and slip it off the adjusting sprocket, kink the chain back and then you can hammer the links apart. Not that hard without the tool. I have one of those tools, picked it up at a yard sale once cause it had JD green paint on it. Finally figured out what it was for a while back

You mean the flat links, they need to be flipped way back & hammered out through the groove?

Yes, there is a very handy chain detacher tool, it looks like a hammer sort of, with 3 grooves in it of different sizes. youi put the chain in a groove & pound on it with a hammer, works well. Years ago any good farm & hardware store had several but now with so much roller chain, you can still find them but might have to check around.

I have used a monkeywrench to take a lot of those links apart on both elevators and manure spreaders the more worned the easier the easier they come apart. one of those monkeywrenches with a hammer head on it works the best.
