I've just acquired a Ford 101 3-bottom plow and a Ford 501 7' mower to use with my '70 Ford 4000 diesel tractor. I got the original manual for the plow, but not for the mower. Since I've never used either one before, I sure could use some advice on how to proceed--especially with the mower.

How do I tell when it need sharpening? How do I set the blade angle? How do I adjust the belt? What else do I need to know? Etc.....

Thank you in advance. Rick

Thanks for the help Paul & Tom. I've ordered the manual, and I found some good info in the archives.

You can get the 501 mower parts manual from the 'N-Newsletter archives.

New Holland still sells the manuals, a dealer as well as on line. Or you can find them on e-bay. With that many questions, probably the best way to go. :)

The plow will probably give you more problems than the mower to set up, as each tractor requires a little different fiddling to set with the plow.

If you can figure out how to search the archives here at this site, there have been lots of good discussions on both plow & mower setup in the past few years. That would problably also give you a good start.

Good luck,
--->Paul
