I have a Farmall MD. It has a remote which will allow me to pull a mower conditioner for my hay operation. Should I be able to pull a 9' mower conditioner where it is a little hilly or should I get a 7' mower conditioner. The tractor is new to me and any advice would be a help. Thanks in advance.

An MD should be close to 5,000 lbs. It would be a heavy enough tractor to handle a 9' haybine even on hills.

I pull a Hesston 1091, a 9 foot with a Farmall M. It's the only thing that has ever made th M feel light on the front end, but I haven't had any trouble with it. Without live PTO it's a little hard to get started, but as long as the mower is not in the grass when you start it gets going after a while. The PT-10 I had before had an overrunning clutch, so I could start the mower with the tractor in neutral, then shift into gear before the mower stopped, and take off that way. I intend to add one to the 1091 somehow, before next summer.

You would probably be ok with a 9'. You're kinda in the land of inbetween there, but an M is pretty heavy, it should have the power & heavy enough to control it.
