Hello All-
I really messed up the pto on out antique rotary mower. Broke a yoke, cross, bent the pto shaft and tube. I am getting etimates from dealers 120-170 dollars to get parts (basically the entire works for a 5' pto with a shield). It is a pull behind. I was thinking that an old baler pto would work good as well and if it was set up with the bend in the middle it should allow for tighter turns. Any comments from the floor? Local steel yard has pto tubing but is only in 10' pieces at almost 100 dollars a stick.
Thanks, Jim

Yep if you plumb it in right the trailer mower should have a cv joint in the shaft to keep it from doing what you described.

Just remember to mount it just like it is on a baler so it can swivel just a little in the turns.

Mount it in a stationary mount on the back section like a NH baler and it will work good. If you leave out the mount when you turn on the pto the shaft will run off to one side and could break and you can get hurt bad real quick, or at the very least you would need another shaft again cause it will warp it.

You might be ahead to buy another mower. I see good 5ft mowers go pretty cheap at auctions.
