Quick! Quick! Help! Help! I broke the main drive chain, the one from the gearbox to the other stuff (pickup, knotters) last night. It really went, too - 3 pieces. I assume I have now blown the timing between the plunger and the knotters. I see the "chisel mark" on the, well, the half of the knotter clutch that's attached to the knotter drive sprocket, where is this supposed to be in relationship to the plunger??? Thanks in advance!

With the plunger crank in a near vertical position(there are chissel marks on frame but sometimes hard to see)The tine bar inner end should be between the chisel marks on the frame by it. The punch marks on the top of the knotter should line up with punch marks on knotter clutch. This will get ya in the ballpark. I suggest running it through a cycle after getting it back together to make sure all is ok. Needles should come up just after the plunger extension has passed. Sounds like you had a bad chain if it went into 3 pieces. Hope you put in a whole new one or you'll be going through this again. Good luck on it. Might want to get an operator's manual for it. Can get them on line from New Holland.
