I think i saw you ask this before. I would have NO idea! The silly answer would be: To move commodities around of course.....

What does it look like? How big is it? What does it hold? Is it self-powered, pulled with a tractor, pushed by hand, etc?

What country/ area are you from, as the same thing can be called different things in different areas.

We need a better description of this item, or a picture, to help you.

I am from Kansas. I have seen them being pulled in front of planters and assummed they held more seed. But I didn't know what to think when I saw someone pulling one when he was working ground. They have two big tanks and an auger. That is all I know about them.

Are they plastic tanks? Then it might be herbicide saddle tanks for spraying. A fill hose or the framework could look like an auger? Probably not, but a thought.

Metal tanks, could be for a seed/ fertilizer setup. He might have just been using it for fertilizing, or possibly seeding a double crop of beans? Some of the hoe platers look like a big field cultivator with a bin or 2 on top or in front on a cart.

Just guesses, as I'm in corn/soybean country.

You might try asking the folks using them. Sounds like maybe fertilizer or other crop ammendments being applied during planting?

Commodity carts are used to handle all type of feedstuffs, corn, milo, bean meal etc. My experience with the name is in feed mills. However there isno reason not to use the name refering to bulk storage in the field at planting time.
