About a year ago I swapped some posts about a parking cradle for a JD #9 mower. Just wanted you to know that your advice got modified and implemented. It works great! My parking cradle consists of some short pieces of 4x4 timbers stacked two high for the body of the mower to rest on. The arms are supported by a couple of old cheapie jack stands that I don't use for mechanic work anymore and the blade is supported by a long 6x6 timber that was "left over" at a nearby construction site. It now takes me about 10 or 15 minutes to hook up the mower all by myself, instead of 2 hours with help.

Hey anything to help out a fellow 9W owner. The first time I hooked ours up to the ol MH50 I almost gave up after the first half hour or so.

But finally got it done.

The neighbor helped me make a cradle (as we called it)out of a cast-off shipping skid from an engine. That, and a sickle bar support bench kind of thing, and you could finally cope with the thing. Saved much time, profanity and pain.

I've seen several posts about the difficulty mounting the #9. I timed my last hook-up and it took me a leisurly 7 minutes to get it on my 8N. I use a couple of 2X6 scraps under the inside shoe and the pitman wheel to keep it level and 2 2X4s stacked to keep the front arms out of the dirt. Here's how I do it.
Hook end up tractor lift arms to mower pins. Lift the arms slowly with the tractor hydraulics until front of mower arms line up with forward part of tractor lift arms, install u-bolts. Hook up top link. Hook up PTO. Head for field. Hope this helps someone out there. Steve 8N 169302.
