i have a 58 971 ford. i bought a middlebuster from tractor supply and when i tried to hook it up i found the center link would not adjust short enough to connect. do they make center links of different lengths?

Dan,
I think they do make different length top links, but I'm not sure you need one. We bought a subsoiler from TSC a few years ago, and if I remember correctly they are the same as the middlebuster except for the point. We were a little confused when hooking it up, but figured out that it just looked different than what we thought it should. Just push the bottom towards the tractor which pulls the arm that the top link attaches to farther away from the tractor. The bottom edge of the implement runs pretty much parallel with the ground. Not familiar with your tractor, but this was the case with ours.
Hope this helps,
Matt

I agree with Matt.

There are 2 sizes of toplink that are common, and of course they each have a wide range of adjustment by turning them in or out.

Paul is right there is more than one length of toplink. Depending on your tractor, you may need a shorter unit. I had that trouble with the one supplied with the 2pt to 3pt conversion kit for my Farmall 200. You may have to look around a bit to find the shorter one. Many farm stores don't carry it. I had to order one through an auto parts store that carried a large inventory of tractor parts.
