I have a roller bearing that went out last week. I am having a tough time getting the collar off (set screw) is not coperating I tried using all types out petroleum products and nothing seems to lossen it up and ideas?

If the bearing is ruined already, sometimes you can just weld a bead around the center of the stuck part, and as its hot, it will come off because of thermal expansions and or contractions. Good luck

Heat is the best answer provided none of the surrounding surface are heat treated. I doubt this is the case. Just get it hot with a torch and if it does not want to move, let it cool and try the same process again. I have had good success with this method. Though an oxy acetylene torch and rosebud is most desirable, a small propoane torch may work also. It just takes patience. Worst case scenario, use a cold chisel to cut the collar. Good luck.
