A freind of mine has offered the use of his No.10 McCormick grain drill to plant my wheat with. The thing is is that's it's disk openers are set at 10 inches apart. I have heard that for wheat it should not be over 7 inches. He admitted that he now broadcast his winter wheat because he didnt like the yeilds behind the drill. Can someone tell me what is the accepted spacing for drilling wheat and can the No.10 grain drill have the opener space adjusted?

If you're in a wet climate, row spacing makes a big difference. The more space beween your wheat rows in a wet climate, the more weeds will come up between them and choke up your combine come harvest.

Where do you farm? Ilive about 40miles north of Abilene Texas and most of the drills are 10in. In the texas panhandle there are a lot of 12in. and 14in.hoe drills so i dont think spacing should make that much of adifference
