Last week I bought a 1209 at a Farm Sale. After bringing it home today and running it on the Tractor it has a TERRIBLE vibration with the Tractor at an idle, that comes and goes. It seems like maybe something is binding up then relaxing {tin work shakes then stops} all in about one minute intervals. Any thoughts. Besides this problem what is the good and bad of this model? Are there any Junk Yards that specialize in Hay Equ???? Thank You!! Dave

I had exactly the same problem about 2 months ago. Ours would vibrate real bad at a certain rpm. It vibrated so bad that the metal bracket that the gearbox attaches to broke into 4 pieces! And the shield which makes the windrow, fell off! The "timing" between the universal joints between the gearbox and the rollers is out of whack, due to the gearbox being taken off and just stuck back on. There should be a sticker on the cover, I believe, describing the relationship of the u-joints. This is important. You will have to take off the gearbox and realign it, putting rubber cushions between the gearbox and the bracket. And then check your clearances at the "chevron ribs" and also the clearance between the rollers. Ours works real smooth now,no vibrations, yet it throws hay 10 feet up in the air due to the windrower having fallen off. We will have to reattach that in the offseason! Other than that, a very nice machine.

Hi, Check the pressure rolls, make sure that they are in line at the ends and that you can not shift either one by prying on the end of them. Also look for a gap between the bearings and the collars, if their is a gap the one on the oposite end has probable slipped. The lower left collar has a tendence to shift or the bearing holder to crack and let the roll slide to the right. Bill
