Ear corn 'auger' machine?

At 2 auctions in the past years I have seen a machine to help with shelling ear corn. Powered by a Briggs & Straton, has 2 augers under it about 6-8 feet long, all on a light frame & 2 handles back by the engine.

As I just finished shoveling out the crib again, I'd like to know how these things work? Where do you set them, and how does it move the corn in a helpful way? Can't quite see it in my mind how a person would use the contraption. :)

They are called a "Power Rake". I have an early one that only has one auger and no gaurd. When my dad used to do custom shelling he had one with two augers and a gaurd. You use them when the corn will not feed itself into the sheller drag (or you want to get done faster). You grab it by the handles and push it into the corn. The auger pulls the corn towards you and helps to feed it into the drag. They work pretty slick but are also dangerous. It beats using a pick axe!!!!!

I don't know if a rake with augers instead of a drag would work well or not. I have never seen one like that. The ones with a drag work well to empty the sides of a crib.
They are used on cribs that empty out into a sheller drag along the inside wall. The cribs that empty into the center of the side is still manual labor. A pick axe and a scoop is all you really need for them.
