See link below for 2 bottom disk plow. Might have to save pic to your PC for closer examination.

Just bought this disk plow to use on my planted pine fields because there ain't NOTHING stuck like a turn plow buried in a fatlighter stump!!

Originally believed plow was 3pth but found out otherwise. That said, I am seeking advice on best way to connect to my tractor.

I will lead off:

1) Buy 4" tool bar with 3pth and mount plow to that with U-bolts.

2) Weld Cat1 or Cat2 drawbar to plow frame for tractor's lift arms and fashion something else for toplink.

3) Your turn. . .

Thanks.

Hey Shep- if you could post a close up photo of the top of the "hitch" where it meets the frame of the plow it would help some.

Good luck on engineering that thing.

Is that an Allis disc plow? Looks like the same mounting that they had on the mounted plow for the WD series... Bolts to that drawbar support they had under the rear axle, and the lift arms get it out of the ground...

Cut off the long arms, weld a tube the right length with cat 2 pins, and measure up the top link it should work ok. I'd pay close attention to the position of the top link so it works level, within the limits of the top link adjustment. Sometimes the top link connects well to the rear of the bottom pins.

Here is a better pic of this plow. Hope this shows what is needed to provide some more valuable insights on how to use this behind an Oliver 550 Dsl.

If pic not present try the link. Can't seem to figure out how to insert pic inside of a post.

Thanks again y'all for the help.

Is that "drop bracket" at the front bolted to the top frame? If so you could take it off and replace with a 3pt frame, without using the smoke wrench (except maybe to get the bolts out). Probably could use misc steel angles to build a frame, or pirate one from some where.

Most of the plow looks exactly like my Dearborn 10-80 plow, except the 10-80 has a 3 pt. hook-up.
Would like to see a picture right side up. I am very interested in finding a trailing wheel spindle for my plow. I see that you have one there in good shape. I live in NE Florida, maybe we can work a deal.

That looks like some of the plows I,have around here all the of it there but not together ,realy good one it looks like an under slung center mount disc plow .Sounds like your going to plow firelines .Your in FL.you might want to contact the Division Of Forestry and see when they are going to have equipment auction in LAKE CITY , sometimes you can pick up a fairly good pull type fireline plow . The guy you want to talk to is CHARLIE ALLIGOOD in TALL.you can call your local district D.O.F and get the number.

Shep, it might be easier to answer your questions if we knew what the hitch is on the tractor you will be using. Is that a 3 pt or some other special arrangement? Just interested.

JER -
Plan is to connect to standard 3pth on Oliver 550 Dsl. I have been using a buddy's disk plow (Athens) for the past few years and thought it time to buy my own.

I found this one in S. FL thinking it was 3pth. Regardless, thinking of firing up the Victor smokewrench and making as 3pth. Unless of course someone in the Southeast that has a Dearborn or Athens plow they want to trade or sell.

With today's no-strip tillage these type of plows are hard to come by in my area. Moldboard plow is out of the question with all the pine tree roots.

Shep: I think it's an Allis. I also think you're going to have to fire up the torches and welder to make it fit a 3 pt hitch. If you leave the Allis tongue on it, it will be so far back of the tractor you'll never lift it and if you try to run the tongue under your tractor, you have no ground clearance. Set it up on blocks or a skid so it's about 8 to 10 inches off the ground sitting level and safe, raise your hitch to the highest point to imitate your hitch carrying a good distance off the ground, and start measuring to make a new hitch. Good Luck. Disc ploughs are a real bandit for working tough ground. Make it strong.

Upside down & backwards (I hope, or I've gone daft?) so it's hard to see what would work. Did it belong on the Allis Chalmers hitching system? Can't quite tell.

Oops, sorry, didn't mean to be critical. :)

Disk plows are almost unheard of here, so I can't help. I'm just curious how it was supposed to hook up to begin with, if it was supposed to trailer, or float in several directions, or what. Curious what the current attachment bracket(s) are on it now. I guess that would make a difference on how you attach it to the 3-point, if you need a stiff upper link, or a soft (chain) upper link, etc.

But, I shoulda kept quiet on stuff I don't know about, and not sidetrack your question! Sorry again,

Hey Paul!
This is ShepFL. Thanks for the apology but it is not needed. I guess you did not see my smiley face :-) in the area with my name.

No harm done whatsoever and I value everyone's opinion. I was just joking around. Sorry to have upset you or have my comments misunderstood. Please feel free to add your comments.

Seriously though, I plan to post another pic and what view would be most beneficial? The pic posted was all I had available. Plow is still sitting on my trailer and will be unloaded this weekend.

Best Regards,
ShepFL

Disc plows were the standard around here years ago, there are many still available that use the 3 pt. hitch, if you have a snap coupler plow, It would be a shame to cut it up and use it as a 3 pt. My local used equipment dealer has 5 or 6 3 pt. plows on his lot right now, you could probably get one for a couple hundred. Yours may be worth more if you knew what it fit. Johnny

Where in E. TX? I have driven as far as Tatum, TX to pick up a planter. I just returned from Austin, TX after month and half of business travel.

Drop me a line or post some phone #'s. This is certainly an open option. This plow is not snap-coupler but do think it is an Allis or some other mount - tool bar?
