Howse bush hog

just bought a howse bush hog 6' mower and when i engage the pto and rev up the engine it turns fine and smooth but when i put the tractor in gear and take off, the mower blades bang up against the mower housing making a loud noise.What do you guys think the problem could be? thanks

I would check all hardware, and make sure everything is tight. Blade bolts may need 300ft/lbs or more(check manual). Is there gear oil in gear box? This I would check daily, as leaks from below won't get detected. Most gearboxes are designed for 545rpm. don't exceed that.

The stump jumper may be loose. The Howse 600 and 600S are bad about being put together p-poor, or at least these here are.

They may have left the gearbox mounting bolts loose.
