An old Case 1 row picker just happen to fall into my lap this evening. It says it's a PR model. Anybody know anything about this thing? It's in pretty rough shape cosmeticaly, but it's runs and operates decent. It does have rubber husking rollers so I figure it can't be to old. Any idea's about when these things were made or if they were a decent picker? I'll probably end up with a New Idea 323 later on, but if this thing works decent and I can still get parts, who knows. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks, Casey

I believe parts for Case implements and combines were phased out in 86'. Your only hope would be a parts picker. I think Case quit making pickers in the late 60s. Hope it will run a good while.

I found a Case PR picker last spring. haven't used it yet. It needs afew parts. If you find a source for parts or have any advise on operating it, I would be interested.
Thanks, Lee

The one that you have is a brother to the model P. All the difference was the PR had an added recleaner "husking bed". The P was just a snapper, not a picker with a husking bed. The model P was around 1939-1962. And the PR was around 1945. I assume that it ended about 1962 like the P did. The model P in 1947 with rubber tires was about $557.50. The PR might be a little higher due to the fact that it had a husking bed. As far as the job it did, the PR did about the same job the model I or IR did, and the I and IR were pretty good pickers in their day. I hope this helps you.

Thanks for the info. I knew nothing about the machine, but I will say that I didn't think it was that old. The old girl still runs pretty good. One loose chain and one cog that's shot and that's about it. We'll give it a try in 4 or 5 acres this Sunday. Again, thanks for the info.
